Does anyone make their own yogurt?

We use a lot of natural yogurt (3 lots of overnight oats a day for a start).

I wonder if making our own would be more cost effective, and if so any tips for keeping up a supply would be great.

Thank you

I go through phases of it. Make it for 2 or 3 months and then start picking it up from the supermarket again. I own a very simple yoghurt maker and it does make good yoghurt, natural and greek, but I wonder if it's much cheaper than a pot of Onken by the time you've added your fruit as well.

It's easy and fresh though, with no added ingredients. If you use a yoghurt maker, you'll need to buy a spare inner pot as well, so while you have the one in the fridge you're using, you can have another pot brewing.

Look at the price of yoghurt and the price of milk and you have your answer about how cost effective it is.

You don’t even need a yoghurt maker, although it’s more faff without one.

If you find it too much effort you can always go back to buying it.

I make 1.5 litres of organic full fat a week in a yoghurt maker from Lakeland. Delicious and so much cheaper than shop bought equivalent.

I used to make it years ago, I didn't have a yoghurt maker, I just used a glass bowl and the airing cupboard.
If you've got a fancy multi cooker, some of them have a yoghurt making programme.

We used to make it, used a thermos. Our rate of consumption dropped as the kids got older so we went back to buying it.

I have a Lakeland bulk yogurt maker with an extra bowl. I use organic UHT milk so I don’t have to heat the milk. I strain my yogurt for a couple of hours too. I have an Instapot but I found the yogurt was nicer in the yogurt maker. It is easy to make especially with UHT milk, just a couple of tablespoons from the previous batch whisked into the milk and plug it in overnight.
