Thanking you in advance

Get really nice ones, that are skinless and boneless, in olive oil. Cost a bit more than basic, but are still only a pound a two a tin, or if you get fancy Spanish deli ones, you could pay a lot more than that. Eat with slices of nice crusty bread.

This. The ones in posh tins with chilli from Waitrose are so nice. They are lovely in pasta or on toast or with salad.

With cheaper ones I sometimes use for fishcakes. Or fried they are nice in pasta with rocket or parsley and lemon.

Also smoked mackerel - in plastic from the supermarket - with or without peppercorns are really lovely. Make a great salad - have with watercress or rocket and new potatoes and a mustardy dressing.

So sorry. Dreadfully confused. I thought the title was how to dress up AS a tin of sardines.

Same, and that's why I clicked on the thread!🤣

I'm a fan of tinned sardines and always have a few tins in the cupboard. Things I do with them include
Mash up and mix with cream cheese for a quick pâté.
Break up roughly and warm through, adding a selection of things like chopped olives, sun dried tomatoes, peppers in oil, herbs, pine nuts, capers, then stir into cooked spaghetti. Sardines in tomato sauce works well for this, though generally I prefer sardines in olive oil.
Keep whole and use to top pizza, brightens up even basic shop bought pizza, and they hold their shape while cooking.
Tins of the exotic fancy types make good aperos with a glass of wine, just add some olives or capers & a squeeze of lemon, or make into bruschetta if you have time.

I know they're supposed to be good for you, but nothing would persuade me to eat something I dislike no matter how they've been dressed up.
DH ordered them as a starter in Portugal recently. They were filleted, so I thought I might try a taste.
Nay, nay, & thrice nay.
