2 year old is a Coeliac - Food Advise Please

Our daughter has recently been diagnosed as a Coeliac, it is a huge relief as prior to diagnosis she had lost a lot of weight and we didn’t know why. A week after removing gluten and giving her medicine for anaemia and she is doing so much better.

Luckily we live in London and there is a wide choice of gluten free food, but it’s hard to know what is good! Could anyone please recommend the best bread etc or what cookbooks I should buy.

Also would you recommend myself and DH went gluten free to avoid cross contamination?

thanks

I recommend the Schar frozen rolls. Most like normal "bread" I can find.

Don't buy bread, make your own. The bread makers come with plenty of gluten free recipes.
If you are eating out and ordering gluten free chips, double check they are cooked separately to regular ones. My friend was caught out by this recently and what was advertised as gluten free actually wasn't and she was very poorly.
Just in case you come across this in the future, my friend cannot eat any Walkers crisp products including things like Wotsits, without similar symptoms to when she has gluten. She thinks it's the oil they use. She's fine with own brand tortilla chips but hasn't dared to try anything else.

Walkers crisps are not suitable for coeliacs. They say this on their website too. Some other brands are but not all and not all types of crisps either.

Another vote for Becky Excells book or website...

Seabrooks are ok, a lot of the own brand ones are ok, Tesco, Aldo, Lidl etc

Pom bears are GF! And pea snap crisps.
my colleague is coeliac and it can be difficult for her but she says it’s a lot easier now than it used to be.
