Chickpeas in a traybake?

I keep seeing chickpeas thrown into traybakes - do they stay lovely and creamy or do they go crunchy?
I don’t want to waste a tin if they’re horrible 😂

Depends on how long you cook them for, at what temperature and if they are in a sauce. I quite like it when the out side is slightly crisp but the inside still soft.

I think that if it's a 'wet' traybake eg with a tin of tomatoes in the sauce , and the chickpeas are not on the surface but are covered with sauce, or cheese or something, and you don't cook it for too long, they will stay soft.

They're good crunchy! With spices and plenty of salt.

Don't overcook though.

Hmm. Ok, thank you all. I think I’ll give them a miss. I don’t want to do them in a sauce and I don’t enjoy the texture when they go crunchy. No idea why, I love other crunchy things!

If you want to include them but want to keep them soft, just add later on in the cooking process.

I add them right at the end - so if we are roasting veg - to just warm through. Sometimes I put in microwave first just for a warm then stir through. Unless I want them crunchy ...

I read your OP and thought you were putting them in cakes....

I make a vegetable korma traybake with chickpeas but I always add them at the end or they go dry.
