I got one in the sale which is arriving unexpectedly early today! I've lusted after one for a very long time.

What shall I cook in it for tea tonight? I need some inspiration 🤌

Ohhhhhh lovely! Congratulations on your new thing of beauty!! I love ours, use it almost every day.

You need a Diana Henry recipe! If you’ve spare change from the casserole dish (not likely 😆) you could treat yourself to one of her books...I’ve got quite a few and they’re all full of amazingly tasty dishes and wonderful writing/beautiful pictures! Top 3 I’d suggest to get are:

From the Oven to the Table: simple dishes that look after themselves

A Bird in the Hand: chicken recipes for every day and every mood

Simple: effortless food, big flavours

Otherwise I do like Delia’s Chicken Basque.

Or look up the French Cooking Academy on YouTube - he does a very nice Pork chops cooked with caramelised onion and sage.

Also, is it a black cast iron pan or one of the enamelled ones? I’m lusting SO HARD after an enamelled one in a beautiful colour but I just can’t justify it as I have plenty of cookware...

Tittie · 23/07/2022 11:50

Oooh thank you @NiqueNique I've never heard of Diane Henry! The bank account is looking a little bare now, but I think a new cookbook is justified to get the most out of the pot...? Grin

It's an enamelled one. I wanted the shell pink one SO MUCH (the sage green is beautiful too!) but DH convinced me that the cream colour was more sensible and versatile. Also it was reduced!

Cream is a classic and will always look elegant! Smile

Yes I think a new cookbook is definitely justified. Have to be sure that the pot will be worth it in terms of delicious dishes. Wink

Actually I just used mine yesterday to make this:

Steamed Thai-style sea bass and rice

which was very nice. I made a courgette and king prawn stir fry to go with it.

I think they're fab for shakshuka. Try adding nduja (I know it's totally inauthentic!) and fennel seeds to your tomatoes, it give a good kick.

NiqueNique · 23/07/2022 17:46

Oh yes definitely good for shakshuka. Also homemade pizza!

Splicebaked · 24/07/2022 09:33

I have the white one and use it all the time

I don't know how but it does magically make dishes taste so much better

Currently cooking a lot of Mediterranean veggies and chicken thigh dishes

Splicebaked · 24/07/2022 09:37

Mine however is enamel on the outside but not on the inside but I've had it for years

NiqueNique · 24/07/2022 10:11

I use mine to bake bread in too.

Congrats! I have the purple one of these! I can't remember why I wanted purple as I've never had a colour scheme, but I love it. Got in 12 years ago as a wedding present, and it's still beautiful. It's my favourite thing to cook in! Not only does it cook well and remain non stick, you can bring it to the table and it looks gorgeous.

I make casserole type dishes that don't need hours to cook, eg chicken. Today I made a pork (think the cut was steaks?) , sage and apple dish. I've also done pasta dishes in it.

I have the cream casserole as well and that's lovely.

There are such good ideas here! Cooking has got repetitive what with work and things - there have been too many hurried mid-week meals - so I'm excited to start branching out a bit again Smile I made fresh carbonara today, it was delicious and I think it was all down to the new pot Grin

I used mine last night to make this chicken tray bake.

Actually, I have the John Lewis light grey version so not quite as special but still looks beautiful.

TheFlis12345 · 25/07/2022 16:12

I have a beautiful deep blue one of these and it is my most used piece of Le Creuset (I have quite a bit!).

yikesanotherbooboo · 25/07/2022 16:46

Mine was a gift from mil about 30 years ago, she had bought it in a sale. It gets used about 4 times a week possibly more. It will pay you back over and over.
