DS is autistic, so has a lot of 'rules' around texture and food mixing. Previously we have done separate tea for the kids and adults eat later on, but due to change in DH work hours and attempting to reduce energy use, we are trying to find things the whole family will eat together.

The basic rules are:
nothing in a source (or source to be added to plates for the rest of us).
Each component separate or can be separated easily (eg. Take burger out of bun). No tomato

Meals we have so far, to give you an idea

Sausage, mash & veg (boild peas, carrot, brocoli & coliflower)

Batted cod, chips, veg

Chicken & veg

Burgers with corn on the cob or salad

Tuna pasta

Pasta with cream cheese & bacon (has to just coat pasta not cheese source)

DS would happily eat those 6 things in rotation for ever, and we have been for the last month or so, but I'm getting a bit sick of the repetition, so if anyone can think of something we could try to add it would be very much appreciated.

Chicken fajitas? DS could have plain chicken, wraps, salad, chips/rice all separated?
Stuffed peppers - DS deconstructed & plain rice if he doesn't like seasoning
Pesto cod, mini roast potatoes and veg (no pesto for DS if he doesn't like)
Spinach and ricotta/cream cheese stuffed chicken (plain for DS?)
Salmon fish cakes (I use tinned boneless salmon)
Sausage, orzo and veg casserole (DS have sausages and orzo and veg? Set his sausages aside when you cook the other then cook his orzo and veg separately instead of in the main pan?)
Salmon, veg (usually green beans and broccoli here) and pasta or potato wedges
Mackerel pasta

Just off the top of my head - not sure how much help it might be!

Roast dinner too! Gravy added to individual plates Grin

Thank you for the reply, he does eat roast dinner, but I really have time to cook, it is our safe option if we're ever eating out though. Salmon is a good shout. I might try again with fajitas as the rest of the family love them, but he always seems to end up with lettuce and plain chicken, which is healthy but it takes a mountain of it to fill him.

Would the mixed veg of a stir fry be too mixed?
Then you could serve rice or noodles
A protein (chicken, beef, cashews, salmon, prawns)
Sauce separate.

When you say chicken and veg, do you vary the flavourings of the chicken? Honey and mustard, lemon and herb, paprika, Cajun etc.

Would haloumi be accepted. Grilled and served with sweet chilli sauce for the rest of you. With salad and wedges.

Hot dogs
[[https://www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/lamb-koftas Lamb koftas and flatbread (plus humous etc… for the rest of the family)
Chicken skewers

Most of theses can be served with additional veg, chips and possibly sauce for the steak and pork, added later obviously.

Omelette
Baked potatoes
Fish cakes, fish fingers
Scampi
Pork chop, pork steak
Steak
Grill up / fry up with everything separate on the plate.
