I'm thinking of buying a second hand one but there are so many different models. Any recommendations? Thanks very much 🙏

I’m pretty sure mine is the sd2511. I really like it and it does make great bread. I used to bake bread in it but now tend to just use the dough function, I then shape and bake in the oven.

Thanks so much I'll have a look at that model

I think they are mostly fairly similar with small changes to programmes etc.

I'd be really careful about buying second hand unless is stinking dirt cheap. they are not repairable and while they are well built and durable, they do wear out....I am on my 3rd over 30 years but the first two got hard use.

I have had the SD2500 for over 10 years, still going strong. Doesn't have the facility to add seeds/fruit automatically but I have hands and a kitchen timer for that.

Use it regularly just for kneading dough too. Love it

Thanks all, not looking at spending too much, just want to give one a go!

I got ours 2nd hand and just love it. I got one that has a seed dispenser and in theory can make sourdough but maybe this doesn’t help know which model it is! I can check later as was recommended it by a friend who is very thorough .

nb if you use organic flour you are meant to add an extra 30ml Of water which is easy to miss in the instructions - to begin with I thought we had a damaged Panasonic as it wasn’t rising that well until I realised why

Facebook marketplace is often worth a look, not just eBay / gumtree

They're good machines but we had to replace the drive belt and capacitor on our last one as it wasn't kneading anything like as efficiently when new, so if possible see if you can find out how long the previous owners had theirs.

Great tips, thank you!

I also have the SD2511, which I probably wouldn't have chosen as it seemed quite complicated but is actually really good. I use it both for making whole loaves and for dough, pizza, etc. It works a treat.

I bought my bread maker in Aldi for £50 and I love it.

SD2521 for £25 used twice. Good deal?

I have the R2530KXC which is one of the more expensive ones. I bought it because apparently its really good for gluten bread and my mum has coeliac disease so I wanted to make bread when she visits. Other than that, I don't think there's any real reason to go for an expensive model. I've never used the nut and seed dispenser (I just throw seeds in at the beginning). I love the timer, love the dough function, if using the machine to do the baking I prefer the fast Italian bread recipe (2hrs) over the longer bread recipes.
