Which container for freezing lasagne, cottage pie etc?

If you're making up large portions of things that are "arranged" in a dish, like cottage pie and lasagne, what do you use to freeze them?

I don't want to individually portion them off as I'm normally feeding 6-8 people at a time.

I was looking online for something, but Tesco's disposable baking trays are £2.50 for two, adding another £1.25 on to the cost of the dish each time which I'm not keen on.

If you are buying new the Pyrex dishes with plastic lids are great but in the charity shops you can get a Pyrex casserole or pottery lasagna dish for £2.50 and use it many times. I then wrap in clingfilm and a freezer bag. I maybe should try freezer palate to be more eco.

I have pyrex oven dishes with tight fitting plastic lids from lidl. Bit of an investment but very convenient.

I buy a stack of silver foil containers with cardboard lids from somewhere like Home Bargains or EBay. I only ever reheat stuff like that in the oven. I save plastic Chinese takeaway boxes for things like Spag Bol and that goes in the microwave.

Ikea have rectangular glass dishes with plastic leak-proof lids. Not expensive but I use them for exactly this.

I will have to have a look for the glass containers with lids, thank you.

Line the dish you cook it in with foil, with very big overhangs.

Once cooked, Put the whole thing in the freezer. Once it's frozen, you can take the whole thing out and cover it with the overhanging bits of foil so it's all wrapped up and co go back in the freezer.

When you're ready to cook it, it fits back in the original dish.

This. Except I spatula it out in one piece, then slide into a big ziploc bag (aldi) freeze, then back into original dish when needed.

Home Bargains is the place for the Pyrex with plastic lids. They're really cheap there, and the biggest one would be a great size for lasagne for 6-8.

What a good idea!
