Silly question about two pieces of meat cooking at the same time

I have 2 x 1kg pieces of brisket which I am going to do as a pot roast with stock veg, etc. I normally buy 1 x 2kg piece but the first bit I got this time was too small and I didn't realise so went and got another so I'd have enough to go round.

My silly question, would the cooking time be as though I was doing a 1kg piece? Or a bit more? They'll be in the same pot.

If there is a gap between them they will take the same time as a 1kg joint. They don't know that each other exists! If you put them butted up together and covered in foil, they'll take the same time as a 2kg joint.

Ahh, thanks. Yes, I know they aren't aware of each other 😂I mentioned the same pot because they won't have the gap between them for air circulation like you've said, so I will do as for 2kg.

They would take the ame time as I 1k piece as there will be more exposed surface ares than if it was 1 2 k piece unless you squish them together really tightly.
Try putting a bit of the veg between the two bits to hold them apart if they are been cooked on a small pot.

And if there us any gravy and yorkies going spare . . . . . . I am over here ---> 😃

Hmm. They are going to be very snug due to the size of the pot I have, so I'll probably check them after 1kg time and go from there. It doesn't matter if they rest a bit longer than expected if they're done quicker. Gravy and Yorkshires aplenty!

As it’s a pot roast (in other words there is liquid to help cook it), my thinking is it should take the same time or maybe a little more. I’d do exactly what you have decided - cook to the 1kg time and if it’s not done keep checking every 15 min or so. As you said it can sit and rest quite happily for up to an hour if it’s done quickly.

We just had a gorgeous bit of roast beef with horseradish mash, minted peas, Yorkshire puddings and beautiful gravy yesterday and I’m still up for dinner at yours tonight!! Grin Grin

I'll be doing it Sunday if everyone's free, although I might need a third bit and a bigger pot!
