I can't remember if I can or not. I have made quite a big batch with carrots, potatoes, celery, onion and garlic?
Well would you?

yes

hannahsaunt · 11/01/2008 13:31

I would. And have done in the past.

OverMyDeadBody · 11/01/2008 13:32

how big is a big batch? Like 20 cupfuls? If that amount then I'd give it, at 20 months their kidney's can process a bit of salt, if 6 months I'd say no. I imagine the actual amount of salt in a small serving would be pretty small! How about diluting it with a bit of milk?

mrsruffallo · 11/01/2008 13:41

No it's not 20 cupfuls at all, but is very thick as I can't find my hand held blender and have just mashed it up a bit

so how much is in the pot? a litre or 2? what?

mrsruffallo · 11/01/2008 13:45

Around a litre-I gave him a couple of teaspoons full then panicked and he's having cheese on toast now!

i put a stock cube in a litre of water for soup

stop stressing and give him the soup

i bet he loves it!

(add some more hot water and cook for 5 mins if you are still worrying)

cheese on toast has salt in it too you know...

mrsruffallo · 11/01/2008 13:52

I know, I know. It's so strange, I worry more about things like this with him and he is my second!

I would.

My 11 month old had some of my sainsburys minestrone the other day too, though I'm sure thats a cardinal sodium sin.

Yes ..My dd adores vege soup and have been making it with stock cubes since 18mths . I use no added monosodium glutamate cant get the without ones.

colditz · 11/01/2008 14:03

I would. But I wouldn't have for PFB DS1!

PavlovtheCat · 11/01/2008 14:08

I would not recommend giving 20 month old soup to anyone, it will be very mouldy.

HAHAHA! Sorry could not help it

mrsruffallo · 11/01/2008 14:18

LOL Pavlov, I've just re-read my title- I was in a bit of a rush, that's my excuse!!!!

LOL - I personally think its fine to give a 20 month old home made soup with a bit of salt in. If you monitor salt intake all the time, then once in a while is ok, esp given the fact that the soup is full of goodness. Think that will outway the salt content, personally I would, and have given home made soup with some stock in.
