Polite answers only please I've done soup (delicious) I love the taste but I don't know what else to do with it. Any ideas?

Jamie says sauteed with garlic and bay leaves is nice. Peel, chuck then fry til brown on both sides.Add few bay leaves, 2 finely sliced garlic cloves, splash of white wine vinegar and salt and pepper and cook with lid on for 20 mins. Remove lid and bay leaves and cook for couple of minutes to crisp up.
He also says a JA's best friends are sage, thyme, butter, bacon, cream, breadcrumbs, cheese and anything smoked.

I thought I should warn you. I was unaware of this fact - cooked a whole blardy packet of them (we had the fruit and veg box delivery thing at the time) and then spent most of the night wondering if my insides were going to explode through my stomach. I was in complete agony. You could have powered a wind farm off my explosions that night.

foxinsocks is right - don't eat too many of them.

Make them into soup, with potatoes.

Done soup with leek and potato, was thinking about a bake or some such thing. Will pay heed to the dire warnings about my insides though, chickpeas do the same I find

You can do a gratin. Slice thinly and layer with sliced potatoes, garlic and whatever else you fancy. Heat some single cream, season, pour over. Top with cheese and stick it in the oven till soft and gooey.

I heard they make you fart but I scrubbed the skins really thoroughly and left them on when I made a soup and didn't seem to have a problem (gas-wise)

Idid the gratin thing, but have to say agree with Fox. Didn't affect me to badly - honest - but DH was not good to be around .

The gratin was good to eat tho'

Jamie Oliver has a really nice gratin receipe where you mix sliced artichokes, grated paremsan cheese, lemon juice and single cream, and sprinkle breadcrumbs on, and bake, covered with tin foil for 30-40 mins (depending on what sort of artichokes you have, I've found). Really yummy.

Or soup:
slice and saute with some onion until soft a bit. I throw in some dried chilli flakes or you could add some cumin if you wanted it to not be too hot. Soften the artichokes (c. 10 mins) and then add stock and simmer for half an hour. Put in the blender. You can add yogurt before serving.

Both give me really bad farts!
