lunch ideas for mums and toddlers?

Have two friends and their toddlers round for lunch fairly often (along with my toddler) One child only eats wet food (ie with a sauce of some kind) and the other is suspicious of anything vaguely unusual although not fussy as such - wouldn't touch risotto. Can anyone suggest some different ideas for lunch? Do pasta/lasagna/casseroles with jacket potatoes at the mo but have done everything so many times and they're coming round this Sat. Was going to do pasta with peas, smoked salmon and cream cheese which DD loves but apparently neither child will eat salmon and feel it's a bit too nursery for the adults with ham in it. Help!!

what about replacing the salmon with tuna or chicken?

How about pizza? You could get the kids to add their own toppings (and the adults too!) sometimes if kids help make the food they are more likely to eat it.

Or ravioli or other stuffed pasta with garlic bread and a salad for mums?

Pasta with pesto
French toast, bacon and tomotoes (my dd's favourite)
Carbonanra
Pizza
Cous cous - with loads of vegggies in
Home made chicken goujons with dip
Cheese wraps

Tbh I would not care if it seemed to be 'nursery food' as long as my lo was eating it and enjoying it!

Thanks for suggestions so far - may well do carbonara. Owing to the child who only eats wet food we can't have pizza or wraps of any kind and cous cous is too weird for the other one apparently!! Keep em coming!

Gosh, you are all very organised! When we go round to someones for lunch or they come here lunch is normally more a picnic type meal of cheese sandwich, raisins/fruit, or something like scrambled eggs on toast if it's cold.

DD will eat food at her friends she wouldn't dream of toushing at home!

ChirpyGirl · 09/01/2008 19:36

Sorry, I misread that as won't eat wet food!

so scrambled eggs might work?

What about stir fry noodles with veg/meat etc - quick and easy!

soup, bread and cheese is about as good as it gets here!

gawd. i'd make food for the adults and if the wee ones wouldn't eat it you could offer them a sandwich (assuming all NT and their 'no wet food' rulings didn't run deeper.)
