Right. won't eat pasta/rice/potatoes/chicken/meat - think most of those are too chewy for her. wants to use cutlery & feed herself so purees etc are out. won't eat veg other than peas/sweetcorn or very soft broccoli. the only protein I can get her to eat is eggs or salmon. Obviously I can't give her that every day. would eat sweet stuff in any shape or form until it came out of her ears but main meals a problem. any ideas? have tries some of the recipes from the BLW blog but will not eat them at the moment.

try overcooking the pasta to make it as soft as poss, and mixing it in with stuff she does like - eg salmon and peas.

cut out snacks as much as poss so she is hungrier at mealtimes (perhaps fruit only between meals.)

Mine is teething at the mo and so far she'll go for:

Porridge with dried fruit cooked in to it
Stewed fruit (apple and peach) with cinnamon
Omlette with spinach and cheese
Tuna mayonnaise (but not the bread!)Yoghurt
Cheesy tuna mash
Heinz spaghetti hoops

Baked beans? I use the low salt and sugar version and even made my own with haricot beans in a tomato sauce - though she was a bit dubious about those because they didn't look right.

My 18mo dd is extremely fussy at the moment - she will eat spaghetti, but no other shapes of pasta (she looks at them as if they have offended her), and the other day refused to eat her lunch until I drew her a picture of it.

In fact, I'm jealous of the variety of food yours will eat - peas, sweetcorn, eggs or salmon all get the cold shoulder in our house (though she will eat salmon fishcakes). It's all a bit wearing, isn't it?

I've just had a month of my ds (16 months)refusing foods. He used to be a fantastic eater and ate everything I put in front of him. But he seemed to change overnight and would only eat bread, cheese and yoghurt One thing I did find he would eat was puree's with cous cous added to them. I used to weigh out about 14-16 gram of cous cous and add the hot water to it. I could then add this to the puree's to thicken them up enough for him to eat. Cous cous is very nutritious as it contains quite a lot of protein as well as carbs. Fortunately he is now getting better and will eat fish pie, shepherds pie etc but still turns his nose up at baked beans or pasta but I did manage to get him to eat a fish finger the other day
