The chicken pie was a big hit with both DP and DD - who's not always keen on meat. Am going to do maple ribs and drumsticks this weekend.

hoxtonchick · 07/01/2008 19:58

prawn & mango curry - sounds vile, tastes delish.

Haven't had a chance to try anything yet but am reading and dribbling....

I can't stand her writing style though - why is she always trying to flirt with me?

sammac · 07/01/2008 20:09

Made the ice-cream cake for Christmas- gorgeous and mega simple. Also the chicken thigh hunter's stew, very nice. Breakfast muffins too.
got it for my birthday just before xmas and was my bestest pressie- kept me quiet!

midnightexpress · 07/01/2008 20:19

Another vote for the ginger ale ham. Yum.

Twiggypiggy · 07/01/2008 21:53

pickie - not it did not go totally hard - was a bit chewy. Still nice though. Have a friend who has made in effect "cinder toffee" and she said that it really is down to a fine art of say just the right amount of syrup, a trickle too much and it could spoil it.

Pickie · 07/01/2008 22:04

Twiggypiggy thanks for that I put it in the fridge and then bashed it but fell apart in small soft pieces and not nice hard bits. I thought I had maybe made it too thick but will try with less syrup next time

Only thing I've made so far was the cheesecake. SO simple, and lovely. Anyone who's done the ham in ginger ale, how does it compare to her ham in coke recipe?

fishie · 07/01/2008 22:20

i like the gammon and parsley and love the bean mash. mrsb did you use a non-stick pan? were your beans from a tin? mine were quite water-logged so no need for much oil.

oh i bet with proper beans and a bucket of oil would be very very good. is it some sort of classic recipe that i haven't come across?

Ceolas · 07/01/2008 22:25

Reading and dribbling here too. Not made anything yet. But I'm dreaming about the choc chip cookies!

Tinker · 07/01/2008 23:55

Have had the ham in coke but I can't remember it too much. Does that have a glaze as well? It was the glaze which helped with the ginger ale one. Plus, I think, cooking ham in sweet fizzy liquid must just Do Something to the meat to tenderise it in some way.

MrsBadger · 08/01/2008 05:47

fishie my beans were tinned and my pan nonstick - they needed butter or ev olive oil for flavour imo

Pickie · 14/01/2008 19:37

made the lunch treats and they are delicious! Took some good nosing before I found the rice malt syrup though but worth it.
