Food Mixer - Which type?

MingMingtheWonderPet · 07/01/2008 13:51

My food processor has finally broken (hurrah!) and I am looking to buy and brand new shiny one.
Question is - Magimix or Kitchen Aid (or something else entirely?)
Please let me have your thoughts, and any advantages or disadvantages with the brands I have chosen!

Thanks

I am madcly in love with my Kitchen aid. Couldn't recommend it enough

do you want a mixer that mixes (for cakes, bread etc) eg a KitchenAid
a food processor that mixes, chops, grates, purees etc eg a Magimix
or a blender/liquidiser for soups and smoothies?

we haVE ONE LIKE this where the blender jug and the processor bowl fit on the same base so it takes up less space.

good guide here

Kenwood chef, have my mums old one ( got to be 20 + years old and going strong. Can't beat it imo.

Love my Kenwood chef, and have a braun hand blender with jug, etc, but If I were to be insanely indulgent I'd get a Magimix as well. I have a very old Kenwood food processor, and for things like coleslaw, etc, it's brilliant.

Littleboo - my mum's was her wedding present. They're having their ruby (40th) wedding anniversary this year! I do think it's had one repair in that time...

Thanks for the guide MrsBadger

I think what I am after then is a food processor. Want it to be able to chop and mix, iyswim.

Does a KitchenAid only mix then?

Quite an expensive purchase, so want to make sure I am happy with it.

kitchenaids and similar don't chop / grate / slice etc, they really do just mix

Magimix!
Unless you do lots of beating of egg whites.
For cakes, as well as blending purposes, magimix is fab. Also grates and slices(though not worth the faddle for small amounts) and kneads dough. Mine is 25 years old and still going strong.

Take up less room - but not the same 'image' if you have worktop space and want your uber-trendy Kitchen Aid on display!!

Habbibu .... hopefully will be going for years then, it certainly does everything I need it for.

Got to be a Kenwood chef, second hand or new.
