Having seen what my new energy bill is likely to be Shock I've decided I need to dig my completely unused Remoska out of the cupboard to save some money. But I cant find the recipe book that came with it do I've no idea what I'm doing! Is anyone using one? Any tips or recipes you'd be willing to share? Thanks

I have and use a Remoska.Just use it like an oven the temperature is 180.for example jacket potatoes take 1 hour.Do you have the rack?Dont be tempted to open up to have a look.Heat element in the lid.I use mine daily.and love it. You can buy the recipe book usually on EBay.Just experiment,It is not hot enough for bread! Was very hard the birds enjoyed it though so not wasted.Good luck sure you will love it.

www.remoska.eu/en

I just had to Google this because I've never heard of it and was intrigued 😊

There's a couple of recipes on their own website. Is it a slow cooker then?

dollymuchymuchness · 13/03/2022 21:59

No it’s not a slow cooker, it gets to around 180c.

The Remoska is sold by Lakeland there are 2 sizes. The standard is ideal for a small family.Easy to clean.I love mine use it every day hardly use the oven now.Very low running costs.A good investment with such high electricity costs now.

TooMinty · 13/03/2022 22:06

Oh, so normal speed cooking at one temp. I get it.

Looks like they have Facebook and Instagram accounts so maybe try following them? Do you speak/read Czech - might be able to access more if so.

Ragwort · 13/03/2022 22:14

I love mine, think it cooks things really well .. for some reason my DH doesn't like the way it 'cooks' Hmm so I tend to just use it when I'm on my own. You don't really need any special recipe books, just experiment with your normal meals, reduce the cooking time slightly.

And yes, before anyone comment, my DH does plenty of cooking at home but I don't really like his cooking Grin

Fabulous thank you, so I can roast my chicken and some potatoes in it? I'll start experimenting with it. It was a present from an elderly relative for my 50th. I wasn't impressed at the time which I'd why it ended up in storage but maybe it'll come into its own now. Sadly my Czech is non existent but I'll have a look on Instagram and Facebook to see what's on there.

Lakeland sell a recipe book for Remoska at £5.99. Just about to make a apple crumble in mine!Enjoy.

I know this is an old thread but was going to post similar… I have one bought years ago which has not been used much. Kids will be all off to uni this year so smaller quantities to cook and of course it should use less electricity than a full oven.

I have lots of the Roasting Tin cookbooks & am thinking they might be a good starting point.

I have talked about the Remouska often on this website. I use mine for so much. If you buy a rack for it there's so much more you can do. You really don't need a recipe book. I bought one but don't use it. Ideas for using it with a rack:

  1. roast dinner for 2 -well seasoned chicken portions wrapped in foil in base with a couple of small peeled onions. Then on the rack I place a sandwich cake tin with precooked potato portions that have been tossed in oil, a couple of quartered parsnips, a sliced or diced carrot and a couple of spoonfuls of mashed swede. Put the lid on, switch on and wait till potatoes are brown. All in the time it takes the oven to heat up
2.Fish in cheese sauce and jacket potato wedges. Put fish into round dish in bottom. Place rack on top. Cook potatoes in microwave to soften, then cut in halves and place on rack to crisp up. Make sauce in jug in microwave to pour over fish 3 Sweet or savoury crumble/bake. Make and assemble in usual way. 4.Sausage casserole. -sausages and veg in bottom, cook for up to 10 minutes. Make gravy in your usual way. Add to pan and cook for about another 10 minutes.

In short you can do almost anything in it that you would use an oven for at a fraction of the cost.

PM me if you'd like my recipe book

I see I posted on this thread back in March but I really love my remouska and am sure it uses a lot less electricity than the oven. My SIL was trying to persuade me to buy an air fryer but I think you can do almost anything in the remouska, I do a lot of potato wedges / sauté potatoes which take very little time and are delicious.

Ragwort · 27/08/2022 20:32

Agree I don't think you need a specific recipe book, just trial and error and bear in mind things cook much quicker than in the oven.

Athenajm80 · 27/08/2022 20:38

Remoska roast chicken is the best!

I think there is a recipe thread on MSE if anyone still wants recipes. I second the point about the bread, I tried it just to see what it was like. I wouldn't bother again.

Decorhate · 28/08/2022 08:10

Thanks for the ideas. Trial and error is the way to go I think!

SlowingDownAndDown · 29/08/2022 17:25

I do a sort of pot roast sometimes: green lentils in stock and maybe some wine with chicken joints on top.

Georgyporky · 30/08/2022 17:55

Several Remoska groups on FB.
