Umm, well unless you are eating after 7 it's a bit late to put it in now, I think. Someone may come and correct me in a minute

If it's not teak cut specifically for stweing or braising, you might get away with it!

usually put steak in for at least 8 hours. Slow Cooker food is soooo nice, you made a good buy there!

not this is steak cut but it is very thin steak, think maybe best i got it in the oven if you need to do it for so long. Just got over that bug thats going around dont want to make myself ill from my own cooking.

right, what you want is to learn how to BRAISE!

use SKIRT, it's dirt cheap

you start in an ordinary saucepan and heat some oil and sweat down some very finely chopped vegetables which should include onions, carrots and celery. remove the veg from the pan and turn up the heat and seal the steak, cut it in half if you need to fit it in the pan. Seal on both sides, remove steak and put in slow cooker set to low, de-glaze the pan with booze, red wine is a corker, and add some salt and pepper and herbs of your choice, then scrape it all in to the slow cooker, put on the lid and leave the thing for HOURS, six at least, don't even think of lifting the lid. Braising seals int he juices and imparts flavour and lets the gelatinous elements of the meat out enriching the sauce.
