Building a savoury hamper?

Hello! Hopefully someone can advise? I'm going to fill a small hamper and send to my grandma for Mother's Day, can anyone help with any ideas of things to put in it please? I know she likes pate, so I will get that and some crackers, anything that I can get that doesn't need to be refrigerated? Nothing sweet though :(Thank you!

You know pate needs needs to be kept in the fridge right?

Cheese straws, cornichons or olives, oatcakes, tea or coffee, some of the M&S cheese and marmite hot cross buns, posh crisps, mixed nuts

Chutneys (I guess still sweet?), savoury biscuits, crisps, pickles, fruit and nut mix, flavoured nuts, bread sticks, Spreads

Gentleman's Relish. Anchovy paste. Salami /German sausage . Potted Stilton. Cornichons. Olives. Sweet pickled baby beetroot. Nuts. I find pate in glass jars ( that do not need refrigerated) a very useful emergency standby. You can get them in Lidl or,errm..Fortnum and Mason. Fortnum and Mason has some very tempting Deli items available mail order and they have some good offers at present.

I did one for FIL many moons ago and got , inter alia , some really posh tinned soup - it sounds dreadful I know but he loved it , so lobster bisque clam chowder etc - got it from a deli place near us but am sure on line.

Potted Stilton I definitely agree with and nice crackers & chutney and perhaps parma ham / salami ( lasts for ages ) as per pp - little jar of the very tiny not very strong white pickled onions ? Beef jerky ? I perhaps better stop now. Grin

Smoked salmon packaged in the foil packages for long-term keeping are often well received. Also cans or jars of salmon pate.

Pickled walnuts, pickled green beans (nice in a Bloody Mary), Parmesan crisp/frico.

You can buy cans/jars of pate or rillettes, or even foie grois. These would make nice savoury additions to the hamper.

Posted too soon!

Other ideas include:

Tasty crisps eg Bonilla a la vista in a can
Olives
Mouth-watering pickled onions or cornichons
Chutney or pickles
Wax-covered cheese or, even better, a jar of F&M Welsh rarebit blend
Jar of sandwich paste eg M&S
Cheese straws or breadsticks
Box of cheese sables

Fancy popcorn and crisps! Honey jam and pickle/relish. Cheese straws. Scones? Tea / codeee. Sweeties. Ummmm some of those mixes you get for scones, bread or cake?

KittenKong · 05/03/2022 13:27

Oatcakes! Breadsticks. Pate (you can get it in tins and tubes).
