What do I do with a mango for 6 mth old?

I've got an organic mango and want to try it on DD (just 6 mths, has been on solids for almost a month). Do I cook and puree it like apples, etc., or should I give it to her raw and can I freeze it? I'm not sure if she is too young for mango/banana mashed together raw? Help!

You dont need to cook Mango and you can just whizz it in the blender with other fruit, My children love Mango and although its messy and juice running everywhere I give it as finger food!!

Don't have any scientific reason but I personally would wait until she is a bit older for mango, it is a rich fruit and very fibrous, even if you puree it.

But I 'm probably wrong

I think Mango can produce interesting nappies.

Think DS might have had it at nursery sometimes.

Then again his nappies are nearly always interesting.

can you add to plain greek yogurt?///

Suzywong - it occurred to me after I'd bought it that maybe it wasn't a good idea (I was lured by the "organic" sticker on it as there's not always much choice in what you can buy organically grown). Might give her a wee taste of it but I think I'd better find something us grown ups can eat with mango in it - Any suggestions anyone?!

Courgette certainly produces interesting nappies, doesn't it!

She should be alright with it at 6 months +. Maybe make sure it's nice and ripe and press it through a sieve so there won't be any stray fibres anywhere.

It is a lovely sweet fruit (when it's ripe). Another similar fruit worth a try is papaya. My DD loved both when she started solids.

I gave mango to both my DSs at this age. DS2 still has it on his porridge in the mornings - peel and whizz it up and freeze in ice cubes - great. Never had any problems with it.

it's fine raw, and whizzed in blender, and you can freeze it too.

annabel karmel has a nice recipe for chicken and mango, once your dd can move on to chicken! my dd loves mango!!
