Soya Milk Curdling

tadpole73 · 21/02/2022 20:55

I use soya milk from various supermarkets in tea and coffee, but sometimes it curdles despite being a newly opened milk. Any ideas why? How to stop curdling? Storage ideas? Tips please.

I know someone who warms the soya milk in the microwave before adding to coffee and said it stopped it from curdling, might be worth a try

For instant coffee I put the the water below boiling temp in cup with the soya milk, stir then add the coffee granules. Works each time.

I’ve also found that the longlife unsweetened Alpro never curdles. And, even though it’s more expensive, Oatly Barista is worth getting.

I have been drinking soya around 20+ years, and every own brand curdles. You need the more expensive Alpro types. If it says 'barista' it won't curdle.

Just to add, I've no idea why either!

Dairy free coffee creamer is much better for coffee. I've never had Soy curdle in tea though!

Add a splash of boiling water to the soy before adding coffee. Another tip is to poor it in with a spoon in the cup.

I’ve long since given up on it and moved to oat!

Alpro fresh unsweetened soya and Alpro long life unsweetened do not curdle but Alpro organic long life DOES.

Not really much help to you as I dont know what one they use but at a train station I got a coffee from Greggs and could not get milk out of their usual jugs so went with the soya milk and not only did it not curdle, but it did not taste of cardboard like it used to when I used to use it!
