We have Nigella Bites from years ago, but have recently cooked a few recipes I've seen of hers on line. They have been lovely, so am thinking of buying one of her other cook books. Does anyone have any recommends?

Kitchen! I've made loads of the recipes

FatLabrador · 22/01/2022 19:38

Her first book How to Eat is a classic and I quite like her new one Cook, Eat, Repeat.

I think either the first one, How to Eat, best for the overall variety of recipes, or Feast because of the beautiful themed cooking ideas, based on festivals and different countries. The other good ones are How to be a Domestic Goddess (mostly baking based so a bit cake heavy), or Christmas which I love but couldn't justify as the main choice.

PickAChew · 22/01/2022 19:44

I got rid of mine because I didn't like anything I tried, all that much.

fortyfourfeasts · 22/01/2022 19:46

I've seen good reviews of the most recent! Love the username @FatLabrador!

Feast and How to Eat are the ones I cook from most. There's some interesting stuff in Express too.

Fatherliamdeliverance · 22/01/2022 19:57

Feast! I love it and have made so many delicious recipes from it

SomeLikeItTepid · 22/01/2022 20:01

Kitchen has loads of recipes in it that will cover lots of different culinary needs. Although, How to Eat is a classic for a reason. If you're a cook who is tempted by photos of food rather than ingredients and descriptions, you might not enjoy How to Eat.

SomeLikeItTepid · 22/01/2022 20:03

Also, have you tried looking in your local charity shops? There's always plenty of Nigella books in mine, and it might give you the opportunity to buy a few and see which you prefer.

GrouchyKiwi · 22/01/2022 20:04

I vote for Kitchen too. I've made a lot of the recipes in there, not so many from Feast or the other one I have, whose name escapes me right now. The Italian one.

fortyfourfeasts · 22/01/2022 20:42

Thanks. We are watching Nigellissima at the moment, that one?! Good idea to check out charity shops - will do.

Feast! I come back to it again and again. The other ones have never grabbed me in the same way.

Nosetickle · 22/01/2022 20:44

I use Nigella Express a lot so I vote for that one. I don’t have any of her other ones though so it might not be the best!

couldthisbeit · 22/01/2022 22:45

I've used them but Feast is the one I love the most

NewYearNewMinty · 22/01/2022 22:51

I love Nigella but only have three of her books.

I bought Cook, Eat, Repeat about 6 months ago as it has lots of recipes I'll probably use when I stop getting distracted by posts on the BBC Good Food FB group!

How To Be A Domestic Goddess is my absolute favourite...I bought it when it first came out and its battered to fuck from overuse but I've never had one of her bakes go wrong.

Martinisarebetterdirty · 22/01/2022 23:01

I have all her books, I use express most, then Christmas and the rest about the same. How to Eat is a lovely book to curl up and read and is possibly the most recipe heavy (as in has the most).

YesThisIsMe · 22/01/2022 23:10

This is my copy of How To Eat

Best Nigella book
TwoBigNoisyBoys · 22/01/2022 23:19

The Nigella Christmas one is amazing…and although obviously a lot of the recipes are festive, there’s also dozens of other recipes that can be made all year round. It’s one of my favourites ☺️

AllLopsided · 22/01/2022 23:22

I really like the Nigellissima book - the Chocolate Olive Oil Cake must be my most frequently made cake!

clary · 22/01/2022 23:27

I love Feast and also Kitchen. You can read her books for fun, they are great.

How to Eat is good too but no pix. I recently acquired Christmas which is also good tho fairly seasonal.

My copy of Domestic Goddess has fallen to bits due to overuse.

You can often buy them in charity shops in excellent condition for£2-3.

While we are sharing...

Nigella Express got us through having a newborn and being able to eat what felt like decent home cooked food. It’s not for cooking purists though some of the recipes are quite inspired eg raw mushroom pasta and the steak/frites.

I’ve a few of her other books and I like them but I’ve used express most consistently.

PurpleDaisies · 22/01/2022 23:37

Another vote for feast.
Just for the chocolate cake hall of fame.

fortyfourfeasts · 23/01/2022 10:56

Oh I love the photos of the books! We have lots of well loved recipe books that look like that! I think I'll start with a quick hunt round charity shops, but looks like I might be getting more than one!

Nigella Express.

Simply isn't worth the bother, it's very basic and a bit boring.

I have hardbacks of all her books. They're all signed by her ☺️

I have a battered copy of How To Eat I bought in 1998 when I was 18. I took it up the book signing of Nigellissima for her to sign and she commented that she loved to see such old copies of her first ever book.

Bit of a fan.
