Had to share this recipe with you, courtesy of the Peanut Institute:

4 pounds peanut butter
3 pounds powdered sugar
3 1/2 cups karo corn syrup
2 tablespoons vanilla extract
Mix all ingredients together in mixing bowl with paddle until dough comes together. Do not over mix. Keep at room temperature.

Decorate with the following items:
mini chocolate chips
pretzel sticks
mini marshmallows
rainbow sprinkles
Goldfish (these are little savoury biscuits)
Use Playdough? cutters

Yield: 4 Portions

I've just one thing to say : THREE POUNDS of sugar?????

TinselDragon · 16/12/2003 18:33

I've never made it

It must be a recipe for a playgroup. If I was making it at home I'd 1/4 the whole thing. If one of the kids was having a party - and obviously if none of the guests had food-allergies or sensitivities - it would be a marvelous activity. This is going into my recipe book...an edible toy!

TinselDragon · 17/12/2003 15:22

Noooo! Can you imagine the effect that amount of sugar would have on a group of excited small party people???

Must confess to being a little sad that this virgin thread has been discovered I wonder how many more there are out there waiting to be discovered?

boyandgirl · 17/12/2003 21:20

Ah. Yes. Good point.

I want to make some playdough for my DS (17 months, is that too early??) A search found this recipe I was hoping for something a little more conventional!!!
Does anyone have a tried and tested recipe or should I just go out and buy some?

SoupDragon · 13/02/2004 13:21

Yes, I wouldn't recommend this particular recipe for a 17 month old!! I've got a recipe somewhere for the more traditional stuff which I'll dig out.

One day, I'll try the peanut version just for the hell of it!

try this one - I use it all the time, it's great. Keep it in the fridge between uses, it should last a few months!
2 cups salt
2 cups flour
2 cups water

2 tablespoons oil
2 tablespoons cream of tartar

add wet to dry
stir over low heat
it will form into 1 ball after 5 - 10 minutes of stirring

add food colouring to the water before you add to rest.
