Buy packet of Tescos finest frozen roasties.

(or Aunt Bessies)

Store in freezer.

One hour before needed heat oven pan with the mearest dab of oil in.

Put said pots in said tin.

Pour yourself a glass of wine. (crucial timing this)

When crispy & brown serve.

Domestic Godess me...

(Sits back & waits for flaming from the Proper Wives out there)

I don't remember the thread but last year I parboiled the potatoes for about 5 mins. Drained and put back in saucepan on heat for a minute or so until all the water is gone. Then put lid on saucepan and shook hard until they go fluffy on edges, fling in a bit of semolina and shake again. Then heat tray with oil, goose fat or whatever. Add pots and cook for a moment coating in fat. Chuck in oven. Works fine with spraylight if you need low fat ones.

Freeze after you have par-boiled them and cooled them.

TheChristmaskedPoster · 23/12/2007 13:37

ChippolataMinton speaks very wise words

lulumama · 23/12/2007 13:38

freeze them!?!?
really ?

tell me more....

wotz · 23/12/2007 13:39

Chippy - Do they taste any different - do you then cook from frozen or let them defrost for a while ????

wotz · 23/12/2007 13:40

hi lulu - sounds very organised doesn't it?

ChippolataMinton · 23/12/2007 13:41

thta's it really lulu (what happened to camilla?)
Par-boil, give them a shake to roughen to edges and let them cool down. Spread out on baking trays and open freeze. Bag them up until you need them. Cook from frozen in hot fat (goose fat if you have it).

ChippolataMinton · 23/12/2007 13:42

They taste fab. Even Jamie Oliver was suggesting it in his xmas cooking special. No messing with steamy pans on xmas morning.

wotz · 23/12/2007 13:46

umm, me thinks I be peeling spuds later

helpmaboab · 23/12/2007 13:54

lulumama · 23/12/2007 14:17
