DH has just mentioned that he gave our DD honey with her ready brek this morning! What are the consequences of this should we do anything or is it a case of waiting to see if she has a reaction? I am now starting to worry!

Ieally they wouldn't have until 1 year old. Try not to worry but tell him not to do it again for a few months.

WOuld have reacted by now - don;t worry.

relaaaax - it's because honey is not pasteurised and there is a minute risk of a form of botulism. Babies under 6 months are most vulnerable.
The symptoms of botulism appear around eight to 36 hours after consuming the honey or other contaminated food - look for constipation, listlessness and lack of appetite.
It is very rare so she will almost certainly be fine.
If she does get any symptoms and you are worried, get medical help. But it is unlikely - especially if it is a named brand of honey.

Botulism from honey is very rare but symptoms would appear with 8-36 hours apparently. Otherwise just hold off for a few months as not recommended under a year. There should be no reason to need to sweeten cereal even then though. Chances are she is fine.

As pp said, it's not a "reaction" they worry about, it's that there is a really really really really small chance that unpasteurised honey could cause botulism. It's very very very very very very very very unlikely to happen, though.

I read once that it is chinese honey that carries a higher risk.

Thanks so much for all the advice it was Waitrose honey so think she will be fine and the fact she has filled a nappy and eaten for england this evening I think we can get back to our strictly come dancing without worrying. He won't be doing it again that's for sure!
