Goose. A question.

Will be my first time to cook goose this year and my sister phoned me up today and claimed that she's been watching cooking shows and they say that you boil a goose before putting it in the oven.

Considering my goose is the size of a doberman (and may very well be one for all I know), if this is true, I'm going to have to boil it in the bath.

So what is the very best, super dooper, fabbo way to cook goose (or doberman ).

(I suspect my sis is taking the piss, tbh. )

we did goose a few years ago and we didn't boil it.

We just roasted it as we would have done a beef joint or a turkey or whatever.

I wouldn't worry about it, she's either been watching too much Nigella or she's winding you up.

Just a tip, be prepared for all the fat ! We cooked a goose, 3 pan fulls of fat drained off and the rest. Very nice though.

ooer. I didn't need that jar of goose fat I bought to roast the tatties in then?

hee hee, probably not, no.

But goose fat is so good for roasties, you can keep it in the fridge for a while, and it freezes well too.
