Does it exist???
I've battled against my marzipan , ended up warming it under my jumper (in its packet) to soften it.
I now have 1kg of ready to roll icing under my jumper.
Can you actually buy it already rolled out in a sheet? Like you can buy ready rolled pizza bases.
Im sure god is having a laugh at me atm

It definitely exists. I saw it a few days ago in Co-Op, it was Dr Oetker brand.

Yes, as does ready rolled marzipan...

JakeyRolling · 20/12/2021 12:35

You can but it's rubbish and awful to work with.

Ready rolled icing is a waste of money. It doesn’t drape properly. It rips. It cracks. Seriously, don’t bother with it.

Your cakes are very cute!

booksforever · 20/12/2021 17:44

Looks great! Another time you can soften it in the microwave. Obviously take it out of the foil packaging and give it short blasts on a lowish power. Would work with hard marzipan too.

scurryfunger · 20/12/2021 17:58

Prof wedding cake maker here - I agree with @booksforever a quick blast in microwave for 30 seconds and knead for a good few minutes and should be good to go, bit of trex or cornflour/icing sugar on a smooth rolling surface (not too much or it will dry out the paste) - cakes look great OP - happy to answer any other questions Xmas Smile

Yeah a few seconds in the microwave helps.

FrangipaniBlue · 20/12/2021 22:29

Those saying it cracks that's because you're not kneading it enough first.

You have to really work it to get it go from the dry cracking texture to a stretchy silky smooth texture - I spent a good 20 minutes at least on it!!

It's to do with getting it both warm but also re-activating the glucose or something?
