Oatly whippable vanilla custard - ok for trifle?

I've foolishly volunteered to make a vegan trifle for Boxing Day lunch at PILs' to suit several family members. I was planning to use the Oatly whippable custard, but now I'm worried that it won't go thick enough to stay as a layer. Anyone got any tips please?

It should stay thick enough to serve as a layer as long as you don't lay anything heavy on it. I love the stuff and wish I'd bought some now!

Make your own using Birds custard powder (vegan) and your own choice of milk. You can make it to the thickness you need! X

Great, thank you.

Do you think the ready made stuff would support a layer of whipped Oatly cream? And how long is it likely to stay thick?

I will get some Birds in as a fall back, but I'm a bit short of time to do it in advance, was hoping to take the fruit/sponge/jelly base in the bowl and just go into a whipping frenzy when I get to PILs.

I would add some xanthum gum to it to make sure it holds. I made a cake for my birthday this year which had a mix of whipped cream and custard for the filling. I didn't add the gum and it just all squished out. I have made a similar cake before and did add the gum and it was perfect. You only add tiny amounts, a quarter of a tsp at a time.
