What sort of food do you like - something to all the stodge?

Or do you want ideas for left-overs?

Myrrhcy · 19/12/2007 17:03

different to the stodge.....

Anything festive or wintery, probably won't have much leftovers which is why i'm struggling. We eat anything meat, veggie, anything

We dont have any kind of roast meals for the two weeks leading up to Christmas, so that its something nice on the day. But Pies, fish, pasta dishes. Have a browse through your recipe books. Have a try of something unusual.

i've made this with chicken for new year before now, but you could use it for left over turkey, tasty not stodgy, \linkwww.deliaonline.com/recipes/curried-chicken-salad,790,RC.html\delia's curried chicken salad}

camillathechicken · 19/12/2007 17:13

delia's curried chicken salad

Have you got 'Domestic Goddess'? The pie in the Christms section (bacon and egg) sounds scrummy, I'm going to try it this year. Otherwise I go for fun things to make - homemade pizza? How old are the dcs?

4,4 and3

Got Domestic goddess, that sounds right up dc's street as is the Delia chicken thing. I'm sure that's an old favourite of mums I used to love it.

We eat a fair bit of fish, plus easy one pot dishes between Xmas & New Year.

26th I'm making a big veggie soup (very filling) with crusty bread (would be turkey soup, but we are eating out this year, so no leftovers)

27th - pan fried garlic & rosemary wild salmon fillets w/ new potatoes & steamed greens (asparagus, green beans, wilted spinach) - takes 20 mins, which is about as long as I can bear to spend in the kitchen at the moment

28th Shepherd's pie w/ green veg

29th Herb crusted cod w/ lemony potato wedges & green salad

30th King prawn thai green curry & rice

Oh, and plenty of chocs and Pringles!

Have family staying all over Christmas and New Year. Not sure in what order yet, and a mixture of "every day" and more special meals. Am thinking:
Beef in red wine
Salmon en croute
Lamb roast
Christmas dinner
"Christmas day leftover pie" (leftovers in a white sauce topped with pastry)
Ham joint with either macaroni or cauliflower cheese or potatoes and salad
Chilli
Fish Pie
Roast pork sandwiches

Lunchy things will include
homemade soup
Tuna melts
Tuna pasta
Quiche
Normal sandwiches
Dips
Cheese/pate & bread/crackers

Puddings (which we don't normally have) might include
Fruit salad
Chocolate puddle pudding
Grilled pineapple
Lemon drizzle cake with poached fruit
Christmas Pudding
Ice cream and various toppings
Nigella's lemon meringue ice cream
Trifle
Steamed pudding of some sort
mince pies
