Which of these cookbooks should I buy Dh?

Simple- Diana Henry

What would you opt for please? Quick to make/less effort the better but would be happy just to get a couple of new staples from a book. Thanks!

I really want it

I was leaning that way but had a quick flick in Waterstones & there seemed a lot of chat & less recipes. I'm not usually that fond of chat, just prefer more recipes. Although I know there are a few in there that people rave about. Ok, it's top of the pile again now- thank you & hope Santa obliges your way!

Diana Henry is great and I’ve cooked a lot from Simple.

I absolutely love Dishoom, since I bought i haven't had a takeaway as they just don't live up to what I can make myself now - its taught me so much. There is a lot of chat but not at the expense of recipes. I don't normally like too much waffle but in Dishoom its almost travel writing, really brings the recipes to life.

That said, Simply is probably the one I use most as there are lots of quick, tasty family meals in there that I can knock up after work. Ingredients fairly easy to come by and nothing too taxing.
Also a fan of OTK but I'm generally an Ottolenghi fan, if you have lots of his other books I'm not sure you'll find any new ground on there but its still a great book.

Dishoom is excellent in our opinion over here but would say that most of them are not quick (or at least the ones we choose to make!). Still worth it though!

Sabrina Ghayour, I love all her books.

I look at Dishoom as more of a story book, there are some quick recipes but also they have lots of ingredients. I'd say it was more of a gift/for show book than a practical cook book.

I have all of these books, and they are all good.

Dishoom is a travelogue come cookbook- absolutely none the lesser for that! It's extensive and brilliant though, the writing beautiful and evocative and the recipes everything they've been hyped to be. But if you don't enjoy food writing/ journalism then it wouldn't be my first choice. It's also notably aimed at competent cooks rather than amateurs imo whereas the rest of your list isn't.

If your meat eaters I'd lean to Sabrina ghayors simply, if more veg focused then otk.

I've not actually cooked out of it but Dishoom is a beautiful book. Just gorgeous and lots of social history.

I have Dishoom, Khazana and Simple plus another 5-6 Diana Henry books - she is my favourite cookbook author; really approacable, eclectic, reliable and well written recipes. On that basis I’d choose simple (though they are not exactly quick dishes) though Dishoom is perhaps more gifty as there is lots of lovely photos and prose - assuming he likes that in a cookbook. I’ve only tried a few dishes from Dishoom but they were good - it is worthit for the mattar paneer alone.
