Not vegan, but trying to adapt a recipe for dairy-free (cows' milk protein allergy) for SIL. Can anyone give me recommendations for the best substitutes for butter, milk and cream? Luckily no problems with eggs or nuts (but sadly also gluten free), which makes it slightly trickier.
I am thinking of making a chocolate and pear frangipane. If I can't adapt it (recipe says 85g butter but that's the only dairy and I'm hoping oil will do), it will be poached pears, but sometimes you just want something a bit stodgy at Christmas!
