Do you leave the skin on when you make butternut squash soup?

I always leave the skin on when roasting butternut squash, though have found it too tough on other squashes.

Was making butternut squash soup a couple of nights ago and half way through peeling I wondered if it was necessary. I did very shoddy peeling for the rest of the squash and don't seem to have any hard bits in the soup.

Definitely not seeds though - was wondering about them too so chucked a couple in. Not to be recommended!

I roast it with the skin on (cut into chunks with seeds removed) along with loads of cloves of garlic in skins, then scrape the flesh of both into the stock and bin skins.

I hate peeling BNS more than anything in the world!

Ok, slight exaggeration perhaps.

But, skin - shudder.

COVs way appeals to the lazy in me.

yes I couldn't get it smooth even with the blender
