How do I jazz up pork chops?

notnowbernardimstuffingthebird · 17/12/2007 16:57

I think pork chops are boring on their own.

What can I do with them?

I have lots of veg to accompany, but no spuds. 2 mega-parsnips, too.

TIA!

i'm making a stirfry tonight with pork marinated in lemon juice/soya sauce/chilli, with leeks and baby corn

I made that Nigella dish, it is piece of p*ss and good wintery food (dread to think of what it does to the arteries though)

when they are nearly cooked, add a slice of cheddar and teaspoon of apple sauce to each and return to grill for last few minutes

bubblagirl · 17/12/2007 17:18

mint jelly over the top then grilled gives nice glaze

sprinkle rosemary on the top then cook and do minted vegetables i usually do minted as i love mint lol

Thankyou All!

Love the idea of the Nigella one, but have no cream or cider, unfortunately

Think I will go with th roasted veg idea, and do a honey and mustard sauce thing. How much honey and mustard?

spread with apple sauce or apricot jam, then sprinkle paxo over and bake in the oven

DrNortherner · 17/12/2007 17:39

When nearly cooked, pop some sliced tomato on top and grated cheese. Stick under grill.

murphyslaw · 17/12/2007 17:46

Bash them out between clingfilm. I use a rolling pin to hammer them (good stress relief!) Dip in seasoned flour, egg then stuffing mix or breadcumbs. Oven bake - delicious!

I have two brill recipes
one is posh cider (though sure merrydown would be as good!) plus cream plus mustard and a bit of thyme
cook chops, remove, reducs mustard cider thyme, add cream, put chops back in to get a bit hotter and bubbly.

other is one that I can't remember off top of head but could go and find the sticky bit of torn newsprint somewhere if you wanted -

it's endive and cider again I think and , absolutely delishous.

This thread put me in the mood and I cooked my pork chops recipy again. This time I didn't have the ingredients to marinate ir over night so I bought them today and only had a little bit over an hour to marinate covering with the cling film. They were lovely if I may say so. i'm going to try the other recipies as well as they all sound fantastic.
