Just got one second hand. What do you use yours for?

Bread, cakes, biscuits, pastry, meringues; basically anything that tastes nice.

Dh makes amazing stuffing with ours at Christmas.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 26/11/2021 11:34

Bread, cakes, biscuits, buttercream, frosting, meringues, loads of nice stuff!

TuftyMarmoset · 26/11/2021 11:34

Pretty much all baking, including crumble topping as rubbing the butter in hurts my thumbs. Things I make most often are probably lemon drizzle traybake and beetroot brownies. I also have the blender and food processor attachments which I use to make the more obvious things like soups and sauces but also less obvious things like slushies and grating carrots.

WeAreTheHeroes · 26/11/2021 11:36

Cakes, buttercream - especially any which uses egg whites, meringues/Pavlova, etc, etc.

Justcannotbearsed · 26/11/2021 12:54

You can make crumble topping in it….ace.

Christmas and other fruit cakes, and bread. Mostly. Things like buttercream I do with electric hand whisk and pastry/crumble with food processor.
If you do bread with the dough hook then it can sound like it's going to come to bits but I think it's the latches rattling rather than the motor overstraining.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 02/12/2021 20:25

Sponge cakes, pastry, meringue for lemon meringue pie, crumble topping, brandy butter for Christmas pud, anything that would otherwise involve arm aching mixing or creaming.

Nothing, it languishes in the cupboard because I use a hand blender for speed.

NatMoz · 02/12/2021 20:44

All the cakey things everyone else has mentioned and mashed potato!

My most used kitchen gadget is the multi mill attachment for my kenwood. If you have a compatible model I'd highly recommend it www.argos.co.uk/product/7411881

I use it for curry pastes, salsas, dips etc. It comes with 4 jars and is so easy to clean that for bigger amounts I'd rather use two jars instead of my blender.

Crepuscularshadows · 04/12/2021 18:31

Cakes. Biscuits. More cakes. And I've got the blender attachment so I use that for making curry pastes and really nice cocktails.

isthismylifenow · 04/12/2021 19:00

Anything that needs mixing. So whipping cream, cakes, pancake mix etc etc.

I use my attachments more than the mixer though. I have the multi mill attachment which I use a lot, next would be the blender as my dd makes smoothies every day. Then the shredder slicer. I have a good selection of attachments but these I use the most.

It is probably the small appliance that is used the most. I have faith that your one will last for years to come. Mine is an older model and just seems more solid than the newer ones.

Definitely cake and biscuit mixes, particularly where creaming is involved - I invested in a creaming paddle with a silicone blade which really does a good job. I use it for pastry and crumbles too. We have a bread maker so we don't use the dough hook much. I have a hand blender which is great for quick whisking (yorkshire pudding or pancake batter) but for more serious whisking (meringues etc) the kenwood comes out. Similarly for light blending I use the stick blender but if I really want something smooth I use the liquidiser attachment on the kenwood.
