Help me to cook the perfect jacket potato

Ideally via the microwave.

I have a lovely microwave / combination oven.

Never ever used the combi bit and don’t know where to start with it.

Followed standard online recipe

Tesco baking potato
Fork all over
5-7 minutes in the microwave
It’s cooked - but not yummy

Our fave is Tuna Mayo - have tuna mix with Mayo -

It just doesn’t taste anything like the jp in our local garden centre or coffee shop

Both of them love jp but say the home one is not the same??!!

Help

I’ve tasted it and it isn’t the same.

How do you do the perfect jacket ? Is it possible in the microwave? Or does it have to be oven??

Help us find the perfect method

Here you go, I used this recipe but halved the milk and replace it with chicken stock. It was honestly so delicious and I am making another huge batch next week.

Marked baking potato,if it's big,8 minutes in the microwave. Punctured with a knife 3or 4 times, wrapped in kitchen paper,on a microphone dish. Then 30 minutes in conventional oven,at 200d. I like the skin hard and crispy.

I didn't put microphone that was my phone!

Wash potato
Prick potato

Put in an AGA for 90 mins. Perfect JP.

Unfortunately I don’t have an AGA anymore.

I microwave 4 potatoes for about 12 minutes then pop them in the oven at 180 degrees for 15 minutes.

My microwave / combi has a setting for baked potatoes, you just set the weight and it works its magic. Worth checking the manual to see if there is such a setting you hadn't noticed before?

I think ones you get in cafes etc are so nice because they've been sitting there for a while after being cooked. So I chuck them in the oven for about an hour then turn the oven off and let them 'rest' for 5-10 mins while I'm grating cheese, etc.

Use the more expensive potatoes....Tesco finest ?
Microwave for ten mins ish
Oven bake until crispy
