sounds perfect!

make me one???? PLEEEEEEEEASE????

jabberwocky · 12/11/2004 16:21

Okay, everyone will say I am waaay too paranoid, but I held off on any dairy products until 12 mos. and we haven't done eggs yet (ds is 15 mos.)

Does sound tasty though.

Tommy · 12/11/2004 16:31

My DS2 would wolf it down (14m) but I made him one a few moths ago so I would go for it

emmatmg · 12/11/2004 16:31

Yes, I'd give one to DS at that age......if only I knew how to make one

All 3 of our Ds's have had eggs at 6 months and cheese when they could eat it without choking, probably at about 7-8 months.

whe do you add the cheese? Is it once it's cooked so it's not cooked or right at the start with the raw egg mixture so it gets cooked too? My Ds3 would LOVE a cheese omelette.

aloha · 12/11/2004 16:39

Why ever not? I certainly would - and did!

Gem13 · 12/11/2004 16:43

Thanks all. DD has had milk and cheese before but not eggs.

Emma - I do one egg for DS (2y). Whisk with a fork with a bit of milk and pepper. Melt some butter in a frying pan and after putting the whisked eggs into the frying pan grate the cheese into that.

Keep an eye on it and be careful not to burn it then I either flip it over or grill it. Sometimes they're great, sometimes so-so but DS always eats them.

I hate cheese but have been told you can't have a too cheesy omlette so put loads in.

Hopefully DD will like it too!

Query was because I couldn't see any mention of giving eggs before 12 months.

dh's friend showed me how to make a wicked omlette without all the turning it over etc: whisk 3 egss with milk, salt and pepper. saute a little onion in some oil, and then add the egg while pan is still quite hot, turn heat down to lowish, and cook for 10 mins or so;( add the grated cheese once the ommelette has started to cook underneath.) then rather than turning it over, place pan under a very hot grill to cook the rest of the ommelette. keep proding to see when cooked through, and slide off onto a plate. also great with mattesons sausage added or bacon. now i'm starving!!

It's a really good thing to ask for if you are on holiday with a baby and in a restaurant. We ordered one in France for ds at about 10months, and it cost less than £1.

emmatmg · 12/11/2004 20:45

Thanks Gem, I will try him with one tomorrow.

BTW I hate cheese too, disgusting stuff. The only way you'll catch me eating it is on a pizza.

KateandtheGirls · 12/11/2004 21:03

I was told no eggs before one year.

TracyK · 12/11/2004 21:08

I've been giving ds (8mo) scrambled eggs with cheese for breakfast every so often - I think as long as you cook them well enough they should be fine. I use organic ones too.

Gem13 · 12/11/2004 21:26

DD loved it - she can join her brother in having it at least once a week from now on.

DH (who likes cheese) complained that she smelt!

prufrock · 12/11/2004 21:47

Ds - 6.5 months and on solids for only 2 weeks, had a cheese and courgette omelette for lunch today. Then I read no eggs before 8 months, but he seems fine. And he just won't eat my lovingly prepared purees

colditzmum · 12/11/2004 22:36

As long as the eggs heve the lion mark and are really well cooked he should be ok. ds had omelettes with bacon at 8mo and absolutly loves them. Nobody told me about no eggs, no cheese, no meat etc. Its a shame because just when you really need something tempting, they're only allowd lumpy carrot and swede. And I'm sure that won't be allowed soon

handlemecarefully · 13/11/2004 21:23

As colditzmum says, eggs with the lion mark are okay; they are guaranteed samonella free so are no problem at all. Go for it

anonmum · 13/11/2004 21:27

yes - I have given eggs(well cooked) to mine not quite seven months - with no problems - loved them plus adds a bit of variety to constant veg
