Veggie stuffing

Help please! I’m trying to be organised and plan ahead for Christmas. I’m looking for a veggie stuffing recipe that is also nut free and goes with all the usual elements of a Christmas dinner. I’m really struggling to find anything more interesting than sage and onion. It seems that Christmassy stuffings are mostly pork or nut based which isn’t great when you need to cater for a veggie and nut allergies. Any ideas much appreciated!

Ah but sage and onion is a classic!

There is a vegetarian haggis which would make excellent stuffing. I get it in Morrisons and the maker is McSweeny or something like that. I am unsure if it has nuts in it.

I don’t have a recipe but something along the lines of this? It depends on what flavours are in the main dish as well.

This is amazing and would be fine without the pistachios

Thanks all, to the pp that mentioned the main element, I don’t think I’m going to do a main as such, which is why I wanted a good stuffing to make delicious stuffing balls, there are so many delicious side elements to a Christmas dinner, the meal is substantial enough. At least time is on my side, I’ll try a few out, I quite like the look of the mushroom based M&S stuffing linked above but might try taking the orange out and replacing with a strong blue cheese.

This is delicious. Really just fancy sage and onion I guess. It’s more of an American version with chunks of bread rather than breadcrumbs.

And this is a recipe for vegan haggis. Someone above mentioned it would be an option. This recipe is amazing. I make it all the time. Definite substitute for stuffing but also works as a main. Perfect with all the sides (tested it last week). I wrapped leftovers in puff pastry with some homemade chutney and made vegan sausage rolls. They were amazing.

No main? Confused Are you doing a non-veggie main?

Thank you! Particularly like the look of the apple one!

Yes meat eaters are having turkey.

A "main" isn't essential. I'm a vegetarian and always feel terrible if anyone tries to make a veggie centrepiece for me. I don't like mushrooms and dread nut roasts. The sole exception was when a friend made an extra large broccoli and cauliflower cheese for me, it's my favourite part of a roast and it was nice not worrying about taking more than my fair share. Other than that, I'd much rather a roast dinner with everything except the meat.

I think it risks showing a lack of respect @MilduraS. As if they couldn’t be bothered. After all, if the meal is substantial enough just with sides then why do the meat eaters need the turkey as well?

I’d check with the guests if they are happy just with sides because as much as I love roast potatoes and vegetables I’d be a bit miffed if the meat eaters had something else as well and I didn’t.

Well, seeing as it’s for myself and none of my guests, I can assure you that I do not feel like I’m disrespecting myself or that I can’t be bothered. I don’t have a huge appetite and I would be unable to manage a ‘main’ in addition to all the sides which I enjoy more. This works well for me. I will gladly cook turkey as others enjoy it and are able to eat more than me. I actually consider myself a very good host and put a lot of time an effort into designing a menu that everyone can enjoy.
