I would think a 14 year old could follow any recipe, really?

FrannyandZooey · 09/12/2007 09:19

I would say age 14 she could cook from any adult book - there is one I saw by Mary Berry the other day that looked good for baking - will go and get a link

FrannyandZooey · 09/12/2007 09:22

this one or there is another called 'fast cakes'. I don't think they would be too difficult.

No, sounds great.

FrannyandZooey · 09/12/2007 09:57

I think Real Fast food sounds very good

there is also a teenage boy chef - is he called Sam Stern? Will search

FrannyandZooey · 09/12/2007 09:58

any of the top 3 here

he is quite cute isn't he?

We've got one called Kids Kitchen, which would be great for the US because the measurements are in cups etc. It's got cakes but also some delicious savoury recipes. Might be a bit young for teenagers, but my 10 and 8 year olds love it!

brightwell · 09/12/2007 18:06

My dd13 regularly uses Sam Stern's "Cooking up a storm", she's having "Get cooking" for Christmas.

Anna8888 · 09/12/2007 18:07

Lovely idea, but cook books don't travel well at all - different weights and measures, different tastes, different ingredients in the supermarkets. Try buying a US book.

bumbling · 14/12/2007 18:48

Brilliant - thanks to All. Did Sam Stern and Mary Berry in the end. Think I@ll save slater for neice's 15th next year. I know about measurements and cups etc all being but their Mum, my sister in law is American and used to it and has converters etc and since they're American but are fundamentally half English think the conversion effort is worth it for heritage sakes etc. Specially since my bro is dead, if that doesn't sound too awful a thing to say here.

Thanks Again!

we have one called Easy Peasey, great because there's none of that make the food look like dinosaurs nonsense, and the food actually tasted good. You know, proper food.
There's another one in the same seires which is all cakes and sweet things, but still quite healthy.
