I've been thinking about getting a soupmaker, are they worth it?I live on my own and I'd have to freeze a few portions.

My parents bought one, as they do make a lot of soup. It fell out of use very quickly as it was far more fiddly to clean up than a pan. They had donated it to a charity shop within a couple of months.

I have one. I really like it.

Love mine, got it back out at the weekend. Use it generally with veggies that are past their best.

No, an instant pot/multi cooker is much more cost effective as you can cook so much more than just soup too. My dm's soup maker went in back of cupboard and she bought a power pot instead!

I’ve had mine a number of years and love it! Made a batch of basil and tomato at the weekend. It was ready in 20 minutes. Batch cooked and frozen!

Soup is really really easy to make. You just need a large saucepan and either a hand blender or a jug blender. I use a hand blender as less washing up. I can’t see the point of a soup maker

Thank you for reminding me have one! The Russell Hobbs non stick is good. (I wrote Russel and Bromley initially) Blush

I've had mine for about 5 years and love it , I can make it in a saucepan too but if you want it smooth you still need to blend it and use a blender
I made soup for myself for lunch today , veg soup with bits of veg already in the fridge , - 2 x oxo cubes , onion , 2 carrots , stem of broccoli, couple of potatoes bit of swede and 1/2 a parsnip , chopped it up , only peeled the onion and carrots , put it all in the soup maker and did some work 27 mins later it was ready , quick whizz and it was in the bowl to eat , delicious , that was a simple one but there are so many delicious ideas you can experiment with , if you like soup it's fab and I usually wash up immediately as my soup is too hot to eat it gives me a few mins for it to cool and gets the job done out of the way ( it's not difficult to wash )

I've had 2.

The first was Morphy Richards sear-and-stew. It stopped working after a month.
However, I did like it, so the second was a v.expensive Lakeland model.
I liked this as well, but the base holding the hot liquid cracked after a few months.
They were both bought via Amazon, so a fuss-free refund both times & I've gone back to using a saucepan - which goes in the dishwasher & so is much easier to clean than a soupmaker !

I would second getting an instant pot.
I used to have a soup maker but it broke and I replaced it with an instant pot.

They're great and multifunctional

OldTinHat · 29/09/2021 19:47

I have a ninja but still use my soup maker. There's a section in the centre where you can put diced veggies or whatever in and the rest will blend so when its finished you have soup with chunks in instead of just a smooth soup.

KILNAMATRA · 29/09/2021 19:58

We chopped veg in a nutribullet smoothie maker with water at the weekend.. put that in a pot and had soup..
