Hello I’ve got to bake a cake for my child’s birthday party this weekend and since that commitment the rsvp’s have doubled and I can’t grt my head around layers/tiers size.

So kids party needs to serve 30, what size tin do I need? How many layers? Then how many tiers.

Any helps would be appreciated 😵‍💫

To be honest since covid we do queen/cup cakes and then a small themed cake that the family eat after.
But to and your question you wud need a 10 to 12 inch round for 30 portions

I would never do more than two tiers!
In fact for kids I would probably just double the size, cook it in a rectangle roasting tin then just pour chocolate over the top and decorate and just serve it as a traybake.

Agree traybake (decorate with icing and sprinkles, chic chips. Marshmallows etc) or individual cupcakes.

I'd make this cake www.nigella.com/recipes/chocolate-sheet-cake and decorate it with everything you have got.

I used to cheat and make the cake I planned and then have a tray bake in the kitchen with the same icing/decorations that I'd cut and put in party bags. One year son wanted rocket going to the moon... made sponge cake launch pad but couldn't get rocket to stay upright so iced a couple of empty loo rolls instead and cut tray bake in the kitchen. Only told him 30 years later - he looked at me as though I'd drowned a kitten!
