Gluten & dairy free family meals?

I've recently been referred for a suspected endometriosis diagnosis. Fairly sure I have it. Symptoms have ramped up quite considerably in the last two years. Anyway, with that comes possible food intolerances.

I can no longer tolerate many processed foods, onions, skins of certain fruits, shop bought bread/pasta/etc (I'm okay with homemade Bread).

It's now likely I have an intolerance to dairy Sad

I've decided to eliminate dairy for a short while to see if helps my digestive symptoms.

I'm okay for breakfast (I either have eggs or porridge which I can use dairy free milk with)

I have a young family that I have to meal plan for. I prefer to eat the same as them but finding it more and more difficult to think of family meals with a gluten/dairy intolerance.

Any ideas for meals that are gluten & dairy free? Except for gluten free pasta, I prefer to avoid many of the GF subs as they're so expensive and not very nice! Thank you

Not specific recipes, but I agree with avoiding substitutes as far as possible. They are mostly expensive and disappointing. I’m not sure what your children eat, but hopefully these are family friendly.

India food is a great sand easy to have gluten and dairy free. I really rate Meera Sodha’s recipes. She also has a Guardian column which has some great sounding food too. The Spice Diary is great also, and her recipes have always worked well.

Mexican/ Tex Mex food is another. Tacos could work with a lettuce wrap, chilli, burrito bowls.

Rice noodles are also good, but not a perfect substitute for egg noodles, thicker sauces don’t work too well. Things like pad Thai, which are designed for rice noodles are better. In general I prefer the rice sticks to the vermicelli.

I don’t eat meat, but I imagine chicken in some kind of marinade, rice / potatoes and vegetables would be a pretty easy family friendly meal. Things like stews, fish pie, kedgeree, cottage/shepherds pie could all work with some milk substitutes from a more traditional British food point of view.

Meat and two veg
Meat, rice and veg
Tofu, rice and veg

You say you're ok with homemade bread, I'm assuming that's GF? Could you do lots of dinners with bread as your carb - ie. things on toast, or a hearty soup or stew with crusty bread?

It's a bit like the baader meinhof effect - if you're trying to eliminate dairy and gluten probably the only thing you can think of right now is pasta carbonara, lasagne, or cheese toasties.

These recipes don’t contain onion:
Paella recipes.sainsburys.co.uk/recipes/summer-paella
Thai curry www.delish.com/uk/cooking/recipes/a31011824/thai-green-curry/ (Thai Taste fish sauce is GF)
Fried rice realfood.tesco.com/recipes/salmon-egg-fried-rice.html (use Kikkoman Tamari GF soy sauce)
Jerk chicken www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/jerk-chicken-rice-peas
Salmon traybake www.bbcgoodfood.com/recipes/salmon-pesto-traybake-baby-roast-potatoes (I use Tesco free from pesto)
Pork chop traybake realfood.tesco.com/recipes/asian-pork-chop-traybake.html

Egg-fried rice with whatever veg you want to add.

Don't rule-out GF pasta - it often only contains 2 ingredients (corn and rice) and Asda and Morrisons sell it cheaply enough. I can see why you'd want to avoid GF bread though if you want to avoid expense and a long list of ingredients.

But check out Becky Excell - her recipes are gluten-free and she is also intolerant to onion/garlic etc so has recipes without those. I think she follows a low fodmap diet, which you might like to check out.
Also a lot of her FB followers are dairy-free as well as gluten-free, plus avoiding onions etc.

(sorry just re-read the OP and notice GF pasta is OK for you, so ignore that bit of my post)

There used to be a blog called What To Eat When You Can't Eat Anything, think there was also a cookbook that came out of it.
