Tinned steam puddings are great for this time of year.

Or is that too unhealthy?

cornsilk · 04/12/2007 17:43

pancakes - my ds's love 'em.

SlubbersRingAreYouListening · 04/12/2007 17:44

Cake - make a 1-layer sponge and cut into fingers.

captainmummy · 04/12/2007 17:46

Angel Delight - lotsof calcium, if not much else?

ILikeToMoveItMoveIt · 04/12/2007 17:47

Bananas and custard
crumble
malt loaf
fruit loaf
scotch pancakes

Blu · 04/12/2007 17:47

Home made rice pud?
(v v easy to make, no preparation at all)
Do away with pudding as a regular thing?
Cheese?
Sliced banana with custard
'Easy trifle' - trifle sponges in a bowl, add dollops of jam, our hot custard over. Maybe add sliced banana.
Baked apple?
Those ready-made rolled crepes with chocolate sauce in - in packets - you get them alongside things like brioche rolls in Sainsbury;s and can eat them cold or microwave them.

SlubbersRingAreYouListening · 04/12/2007 17:48

captainmummy , cake is commonly to be found in these here parts, but is commonly consumed for moring/afternoon snack, by me also

sweetheart · 04/12/2007 17:48

rice pudding - ambrosia do little snack pots which you can eat cold or heat up. They also do low fat option.

throckenholt · 04/12/2007 17:48

fruit salad - more interesting than just fruit on its own.

Crumble, or sponge over fruit.

sweetheart · 04/12/2007 17:48

ice pop's

Threadworm · 04/12/2007 17:50

You imply you will make your own steam pud. Now I feel a failure as a mother and as a human being, because I only ever think of tinned steam puds.

Oh yes bananas and custard was my very favourite pud when a child.

SlubbersRingAreYouListening · 04/12/2007 17:50

Blu....do away with pudding...what madness is this? The prospect of pudding is what gets us through the first course.

rice pudding of course, brilliant. mm

Great suggestions ladies, thank you

Threadworm I have somewhere a microwave sponge pudding recp. Stick whatever in base (syrup, jam, chocolate , apple da da da) blob microwave sponge mix on top, blast and serve.

had completely forgotten about it.

yes yes yes to bananas and custard (go with birds everytime though)

Ah that sounds maneagable

SlubbersRingAreYouListening · 04/12/2007 18:00

Just found it: microwave sponge pudding

4oz self raising flour
4oz caster sugar
4oz
marg
2 eggs
drop of milk
vanilla extract dash

mix

High 5 min, leave 3 min

mind you this was written when my mothers microwave was a brown and cream monster that sounded like a cross channel ferry when it was on, so maybe reduce cooking times by a bit.

will have a try tomorrow

Semolina - Not as hideous as you remember from school dinners, I promise

Note - NOT tapioca, this IS as hideous as you remember

Blancmange (fancy custard) is good

I feel your pudding rut pain, am currently in a rice pudding/blancmange/semolina/fruit rotation

LoveMyGirls · 04/12/2007 21:30

Jelly

choc cornflake cake

choc mousse

SpawnChorus · 04/12/2007 21:37

Baked apples are great
Lemon pudding a very easy favourite
Creme caramel

wrinklytum · 04/12/2007 21:39

Dead simple cheesecake.

Crush/whizz up digestives (about 8 or so)
Add enough melted butter to mix and line base of dish with said mixture.
Pop in fridge.
Dissolve lemon/lime/orange jelly ( depending on preference) in 100ml boiling water.Add tin evaporated milk and small tub cream cheese (philly or suchlike)mix up, pour over biscuit base.Leave to set.Job done. You can add friut to the top if you are feeling particularly adventurous

Re sponges in microwave.I have a category e and they only take 2-3 mins usually otherwise they go too dry.

HTH.

wrinklytum · 04/12/2007 21:41

Fruit,even

yama · 04/12/2007 21:46

Do you all give your dc pudding every evening? My dd gets pudding about once a month. I'm feeling a bit guilty now.
