How long can cottage pie keep in fridge

How long can I keep a cottage pie in the fridge for? If I make now to eat Monday night is that ok?

I'm going to freeze one too. Am I best defrosting for a day in fridge before reheating?
Thanks

If you make it today it will be absolutely fine to eat on Monday as long as you; cool it as quickly as you can and reheat it really well until it’s piping hot all the way through.
Freeze the other as soon as it’s cool enough to put in the freezer and defrost in the fridge like you say for a day before you eat it.
Tips for cooling are; cool the mince and mash separately before you assemble. Decant and cool the food in something different to what you it cooked in. A large roasting tray will allow mince to cool down really quickly.

Saturday to Monday is absolutely fine. If you look at similar ready meals they often have a 5 shelf life.

Easily till Monday. As long as you follow good food hygiene, it should be fine for 3-4 days.

Sorry about the typo! I meant cooked it in!

Three days is fine in the fridge, perfectly safe.

You can defrost overnight in the fridge, or cook from frozen if you like. Cook it at a slightly lower temperature and for good bit longer.

It’s always day of production plus 2 days. A five day shelf life is because of modified atmosphere packaging and/or a shed load of preservatives.

Thanks everyone, I'll get cooking!

That's because they are full of preservatives.

I always work on 3 days for stuff I've cooked at home, was taught the same when I worked in a kitchen many years ago.
