DD's boyfriend for supper - ideas?

New and very lovely BF coming for supper. Not sure what to cook. Needs to be something simple, easy, relaxed that doesn't take loads and loads of prep. Not lasagne. Not chilli. Ideally not chicken as we have eaten that loads this week. I'm toying with something lamb-ish or pork-ish. Any ideas? Thanks!!

Surely the point of the meal is to grill him? Grin

We had harissa lamb with soft breads, salad & various dips the other night, which everyone enjoyed.

Spaghetti as it's a nightmare to eat easily if you're a bit nervous Grin

Your title made me smile, OPGrin

Sausages - with mash or Nigel's lentil and salami thing or Jools pregnant pasta.

Pork chops, jacket potatoes and corn on the cob

That's what I'd want for dinner if I wasn't calorie counting. Plenty of butter and cheese on the spud, and butter and black pepper of spicy seasoning on the corn mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Off to eat a ryvita with cottage cheese 😂

Ha ha yes we're not actually eating him for supper...but we will be grilling him! He's rather lovely, he's been over lots but I've not actually cooked for him yet. Lovely ideas keep em coming...

Thai curry or fajitas

Georgyporky · 11/09/2021 19:32

I second fajitas. Bits & bobs in separate bowls so everyone can choose what they like.

I'd go safe first time you meet him. Sausages, Pizza. Burger and sides (corn. Coleslaw). He might be nervous or a fussy eater.

Wouldn't do corn on the cob, much as I love it; can't be eaten tidily, and you're picking bits out of your teeth for ages afterwards. Lamb tagine and couscous?

I did slow roast lamb in the end with flatbreads, hummus, salad etc. Seemed to go down well, he had thirds! Thanks all.
