Leftover crumble topping

I made apple and blackberry crumble on the weekend and doubled my usual crumble mix because I needed a large one. But I didn't use it all so now have a fairly decent amount left. I could go buy more apples and blackberries and make another, smaller, crumble for now or for the freezer, but I wondered if there was anything else I could do with the mix? Does anyone have any ideas? Not least because I don't actually feel like going out to buy more fruit nor the hassle of peeling the apples after a busy weekend of entertaining....

Just stick the crumble topping in the freezer - you can sprinkle it straight over the next crumble you make from frozen.

Also nice if you spread it out on a tray and bake til crisp - then sprinkle over ice cream.

It would keep in fridge for a few days so can’t you do a small ‘cheats’ one using tinned Apple, pear, peach etc mixed with some frozen berries or tinned rhubarb is nice as well.

Yes as above - freeze. I make up a batch and freeze so it's always available.

add some nuts and extea oats and bake on a baking tray. let cool down anx add raisins and cinnamon to taste = crunchy granola

I always put my spare crumble mix in the freezer. I also put stewed apples in the freezer from our tree then pull them both out when I want to make a future crumble!

I do like the idea of baking it and having with ice cream...

More likely I'll just freeze it. But might buy a couple of tins of fruit for emergencies too.... I think I actually have some tinned cherries in the cupboard, so might do a small cherry crumble (just to use up the custard, no other reason Grin. I hadn't thought of tinned fruit. )

I love it for breakfast with yoghurt

Keeps in the fridge for a week or so.
Longer in the freezer.

Tinned apricots (drained) and crumble is a very quick easy pudding.

Made a cake the other week which was a sponge with jam on top sprinkled with crumble was delicious

@SpaceOp
Sorted !
can I admit that not only do I use the tinned/frozen fruit combos I also use Ready made crumble !
dotted with extra butter though as it can be a tad dry and it always turns out perfect every time as the tinned fruits requires no cooking 🐷

I did this exact thing the other day so following as I've got no idea what to do with them!

Ghostsintheshelf · 06/09/2021 13:45

I always just eat it...

Ozberry · 06/09/2021 13:47

It’s an experiment but I bet if you add a bit of water/milk you could make biscuits

leavesthataregreen · 06/09/2021 14:01

DH and DS made an amazing crumble cake the other day. Vanilla sponge with blueberries in, topped with crumble.

SpaceOp · 06/09/2021 14:21

I discovered a tin of summer fruits in the cupboard as well as some cherries in kirsch which I mixed up and used with some of the leftover crumble and I've just had a portion! Was delicious although I'm thinking I might need to rethink my plan to give DS a portion as the kirsch may have been a bit generous.... Grin

Going to freeze the rest and by some more tinned (alcohol free) fruit for last minute crumbles.
