Curiously Strawberry Reaction

Has anyone found that their toddler has had a reaction to this cereal?
My 18 month old has eaten all kinds of cereals with no issue, 2 days she's had this and after 3/4 hours her face starts like the picture. It's the only thing that's the same.
Is it an allergy/sensitivity?
I can't understand as she has not had this with anything else and the only allergy ingredient in them is wheat flour?
TIA

My mum is allergic to strawberries. And with cereals, it could be manufactured with nuts in same factory so cross contamination possible?

Have you given her piriton ...will help if allergy ?

Windywuss · 21/08/2021 12:27

Obviously check age thing but piriton syrup is good for food allergy

That is hives, often due to allergies. You need to make a GP appointment and get referred for allergy testing.

Keep a strict food, drink, products (laundry/toiletries etc) diary in the meantime.

And yes to Piriton.

Just to add, anything can be an allergy trigger, not just the things highlighted.

I would stop that cereal for now.

Yep strawberry could be the cause here.

AH71 · 24/08/2021 17:37

She has no allergy to strawberries, has ate them for ages now.
She's ate all sorts of cereals etc with similar ingredients and never had this before.
It's just baffling, it eases off after an hour or so.

You can only be allergic to something you've previously been exposed to, so having been fine with strawberries and cereals in the past makes no difference. The big worry with allergies is that subsequent reactions can be worse, and you can't predict that.

Have you spoken to her GP to get an allergy clinic referral?
