Can I buy japanese noodle soup/broth at any of the supermarkets?

You know the type: delicious broth with fat soupy noodles and maybe some mushrooms or seaweedy bits. Yummmmm.

I've got a cold and am off most food but I really could just go with that. (A non-pregnancy craving )

Any ideas? TIA

I confess to having no idea about this.

What is wrong with good old British soups?

Noodle soups I associate with ghastly American offerings.

SpeccieSeccie · 24/11/2007 19:29

Not American, the one I'm thinking of is definitely Japanese. Wagamamas type. I think the noodles are called udon noodles.

And no, there is nothing wrong with British soup, it's just that
a)that's not what I'm craving
b) I know how to find and make that

Best of at an Asian supermarket for really good ones.

Julian Graves the health food shop sell Miso soup, any good?

SpeccieSeccie · 24/11/2007 19:40

Hmmmm. Thanks, Moondog, I'm thinking I'll need to go somewhere a bit specialist.

It is a shame as I'm not really feeling excited about an interesting food shop like I normally might be cos I'm feeling a bit bleurgh-cough-cough. I just love Asian grocers when I get to them and leave armed with weird sweets/vegetables/pastes/chicken feet that then languish in the cupboard for another three years 'til they have to go straight to the bin. But the shopping was fun! It's the possibility of it all that is so promising.

Julian Graves, good idea. (Miso was the word I was trying to remember.)

I'm off to stock up tomoorow.
Am a huge fan of Korean noodles which I reckon are the best of all (but then am biased as have a Korean bil)

When CountessDracula came to my house (we did a houseswap) she saw all my noodles and spread the dastardly rumour on MN that I am a Pot Noodle head.

My reputation as resident foodie has never recovered.

We always get Ramen soups from Waitrose. You either have them with beef, salmon or chicken. Delicious!!

SpeccieSeccie · 24/11/2007 19:47

Actually, a Korean Pot Noodle would be just the sort of thing I'm after, I imagine.

Enjoy your shopping.
