I have an instant pot pressure cooker which I love, and we are a family of 4, but don't eat a lot of frozen convenience food. I would be interested in it for chicken, wedges, etc.

I looked at the IP Vortex and the Ninja Foodi, but a little confused which would be best.

I've just bought the Instant Pot Vortex Mini. I generally only use it for chips or burgers, but I did baked eggs in it for lunch yesterday, and they came out great. There's only 2 of us though, so you might want the full size Vortex.

I've been wondering about this too! We have an Instant Pot, but like the air fryer/crisper principle as well. I've considered a separate air fryer but not sure if it would be better to upgrade to an all in one.
I may get a cheap air fryer to start with and see if we use it, then I can justify spending out on a bigger piece of kit to do it all!

amazon uk have £30 off the Duo Crisp and £40 off the full-size Vortex at the moment.

I use ours to do everything. Barely use the oven now!

Just ordered the IP Vortex :D

Instant Pot Duo Crisp. It is massive (8l) so the Air fryer takes a bit longer (you add 5 mins to air fryer recipes) but it’s so useful when you just want to do single pot food.

Does anyone have a good donut recipe for the air fryer?

katienana · 21/06/2021 20:21

I've just used mine to roast a ham. Came out juicy but crispy on top. If you pop chicken legs or thighs in they crisp up but stay really moist. Also great for home made chips, burgers, almost anything you'd use an oven for. I have a Ninja but don't know the exact model. Best thing is how quick it gets hot so you can get food on the table really quickly.

I have the IP vortex and love it
Roasted veg is one of my staples. Sweet potato wedges. Thinly sliced potato's sprayed with olive oil. Roast chicken. Chicken breast with a parmesan crust
Warming croissants. Anything that would go in the oven can go in if it fits
Bacon is amazing

I've just bought the ninja. I would have got the vortex, if the next one up had been on offer. I want the dehydrate option.

That was a great buy, OP. Well done!

What's the IP vortex like? Does food cook evenly?

When I see the commercial photos, everything seems to come out perfect, but some of the user photos I've seen, even when the reviewer has given 5 stars, have looked a bit mixed - I get far better result in my Smeg Fan Oven.

Stumpedasatree · 27/06/2021 20:50

@justwanttodanceagain I am still trialling the vortex but so far so good, I've done panko-coated chicken breasts, toasties, salmon fillets, and dim sum, all cook evenly and you need to turn once.

Thanks for that - bought my mum one after seeing this thread cos the price was too good to pass up - started thinking about getting myself one as well, but I missed the boat! Price has gone back up now - maybe next time it drops I'll grab one!

I’m a bit indifferent to it but DP loves it for potato things and tofu
