When do you stop winding?

Don't know if this is the right place, but when do you stop winding babies? Do you keep it up as long as they are having bottles? Ds is nearly 16 mos and still has a bedtime bottle.

I mis-read this title I thought it meant winding as in winding up a clock.

I couldn't understand why it was in food what food you would wind.

Anyway in answer to your question maybe when they can burp themselves but am not really sure tbh.

I am not sure what will happen with bedtime bottle is he still awake at the end of it?

They can usually wind themselves once they are sitting up.

my ds is only 4 and half months and I rarely wind him anymore!!

Terrible confession here - I never winded mine at all. (Quick -call social services!) I was told by 'an expert' when pregnant with ds1 that winding made no difference and not to wind a baby who had fallen asleep. It seemed like advice that fitted in to my life (i hated the thought of waking my babes when they finally fell asleep on the breast) and they never seemed to be any less comfortable or happy than winded babies. So I'd say stop when you feel like it and if your ds starts seeming more uncomfortable start again.

shimmy. ds was the most windy baby, you could wind him for ages and the second you tried to put him down he'd writhe around or posset. Guess that's why we've carried on until now but just struck me last night we can probably stop!

I'm sure I read that we are one of the few countries who go in for the winding thing. Will have to check.

Certainly by the time they could hold the bottle themselves and probably from when they were weaning. dd would throw up too readily anyway !

how do you know when a baby has no more wind??

my son took a full 120ml feed this evening and brought up no wind, and fell straight to sleep after, and other times can take up to 40ml and need winding for ages?! is it safe to let them not to be winded?

Never bothered myself. DD coslept and learnt to bf herself - she did tend to wake up at about 5am and do the most mahoosive farts though!
