KitchenAid worth the money? Or is there a cheaper alternative?

I’m desperate for a stand mixer, cook and bake a lot and I’m dreaming of not having to knead dough.

I’m happy to pay for a KA, they look beautiful but just wondered if anyone had any success with an alternative.

I have one and adore it. over 5 years old and like new, I also love all the attachments you can get - pasta, meat mincing, chopping.. which makes it more multi-use.

I have seen a YouTube video made by CupcakeJemma where she & her team compare it to two alternatives, that might be of interest.

I have a 16yo Kenwood chef which does everything brilliantly and seems indestructible. Gets uses about twice a week.

I bought it because a KitchenAid was out of my price range at the time. Secretly I wish it would break as now I could afford one but it feels too wasteful to simply replace it!

I have a much cheaper Bosch one, it came with the usual kneading hooks and food processor attachments but you can buy ice cream bowl attachments, mincers, juicers etc.

I've never used a kitchenaid so can't compare. Mine has however lasted well, I've had it for 7 years and used it at least every other day for 6 of those years for kneading bread dough, plus doing cakes etc on a weekly ish basis. The kids have broken a couple of bits like the lid, and it's always been possible to get replacement spare parts from Bosch. The last was less than 6 months ago and they still support my old machine and their website directed me to the right parts. For something that was only a bit over 100 pounds new I think I've certainly had my money's worth!

If you're a serious baker, a kenwood chef is a better option.

I've had mine around 12 years and adore it still.

It was worth every penny, and I still get a buzz from using it.

I've had mine over 10 years, still looks brand new and I still get total joy from using it. I'd lusted after one for years and haven't regretted it for a second. It's just so reliable, well made and (IMO) far more attractive looking than others. I sometimes just look at it and polish it Smile

Have used kitchenaids, kenwoods and cuisinart stand mixers. All much of a muchness, but the kitchenaid feels the most substantial, even though it probably isn’t. Kitchen looks the best, hands down!
