Can I freeze egg white?

I have 4 egg whites and would rather sit on MN for a while than make meringues with them. Can I freeze them? If so, what do I do when I want to use them?

yep you can freeze them, but don't use them raw once they're defrosted, and let them defrost by themselves (no microwave etc) or you'll cook them.

however, letting them sit in the fridge for a while won't do them any harm. i've read that you actually get better macaroons from egg whites that have been hanging around a bit. don't know about meringues though.

Thanks for that...I can now stay on MN for longer

This is what I do.

Make recipe with egg yolks.
Diligently freeze whites.
6 months later wonder what's in the bowl in the freezer
Take it out and defrost it
Still wonder what it is
Throw it away

So it may make good meringuges, but I really haven't any clue!

or even meringues!

I labelled the pot, but will probably end up leaving them in the fridge when I defrost them and throwing them away s week later.
